1.  First go to CafePress.com and I will lead you through the signup process.  Click on the "Start Selling Now" button and fill out the personal information and click "Join Now".  You will be taken to a page that asks you to answer eight questions.  I will help you with the artwork part of the shop later, so answer the questions and click the "Open Your Shop" button.  The next page will ask you if you want a paid Premium or Basic shop.  For the free program, click the "Open A Basic Shop" button.  You will then choose a Shop ID which will be at the end of your store's URL address.  You will also choose your Shop Name which is the long title, usually a sentence to describe your store or contents.  You can also choose a web page for your visitors to go to when they are done shopping at your store.  If you have a regular website, enter your site's URL address.  Under "Preferences", you will also check the boxes to choose if your store will be child friendly or private.  When you are finished, click the "Submit" button.

2.  Congratulations, your free web store has been created!  You are now ready to start building your shop by adding products.  To keep us on the same page, I will ask that you click "Sign Out" at the top right.  You will now be at the login page and you can save this page to your favorites.  Sign back in using your email and password and click the "Sign In" button.  You will be able to do several things from this page, so if you get lost just sign out and Sign back in.

A.  Your payee and tax information.  For you to receive your payment for sales and referrals, they will need your address and personal information.

B. Under "Earnings & Sales" you can check your sales reports and how much you have earned from your products.  You can also change your payee information.

C.  Under "Shop Management" is where you work on your store, add products,  categorize your shop or just click "visit" to see what your shop looks like to the public.

D.  Under "Media Basket" is where you view and upload your images, audio or documents.

E.  Under "Promote Shops" you can send out newsletters, get the signup box for your website, and get the banners and link codes to promote your site.

F.  Under "Community Forums", you can access the message board for answers to questions and store information.

3.  The first thing you need to do is upload an image that will be applied to the products.  Click on the word "Images" under Media Basket.  You can use the same image for all products and you can use a high resolution photograph or clipart or your own artwork that you have created on or scanned to your computer.  Do not worry if you are not ready to create a final product right now, you can always upload different images later.  Click the "Upload New Image" button and then the "Browse" button to browse your computer for your desired image.  Check the "I Agree To Te Terms" box and click the "Upload" Button.  Your image will then appear on the page.

4.  Now I will help you do is work on your store, so in the far left column under Create & Manage, click "Your Shops".  Now under Basic Shops, right under Shop ID, click on your store name that you want to work on, then click on "Manage Products".  Now click on "Add 1 or more products".  On the right you will see a box that says No Product Image, right under that click "select image".  Double click on the image you choose from your uploaded images and you will be taken back to the product page and you should see your image in the box.  Now put a checkmark in the boxes next to the products you would like your image to appear on and and they will appear in the yellow box on the right.  You can manually remove the items in the group you do not want.  You can then choose one product from the yellow box or drag your mouse over them and highlight them all.  When you are happy with your selection, click the "Add These Products" button and you will see the products in your store.

5. CafePress has a minimum price for the products your design will appear on, and you can choose how much profit you will make on each item.  The prices you see now are the minimum price, you can add your profit by first changing the drop-down box to the right of "Make Changes To Checked Items Below" to "Change Price Markup". You can do each item individually or check the box "Check All Items", and click the "GO" button.  You can then set your profit markup by percentage, tiered, or flat money amount. (I just a 1$ to everything)  When you are done click the "Apply Changes" button.  You should now see the new prices to your products.  You can also edit the image, title, description or remove an item from the above drop-down box.

6.  You now need to "Categorize" your store so it can be found by people that will want to buy your products.  In the left column under create and manage, click on "Your Shops".  Across form the store you want to work on, click on "Categorize".  Choose a category that your products will best fit into.  You can now "Choose This Category" or further define your product with a sub-category.  When you are happy where you are click the "Choose This Category" button.
     Now in the left column under create and manage, click on "Your Shops".  Across form the store you want to work on, click on "Info".  Scroll down a little under Shop Marketing and you will be able to enter your Search Engine Information.  You will enter a Title: (short name of your store), Description: (a short sentence or two describing your store and it's contents) and Keywords: (as many words or short phrases [separated by commas] you can think of that has to do with your site).  When you are done click the "Save" button.

7.  At the top you will see Your Site Link Is and it will be followed by your web store's URL address.  Click on the link and you will see your store.  In your browser window (where you enter website addresses) left click on the address and it should become highlighted.   Now right click within the highlighted area and choose "Copy".  You can now go HERE and submit your web store to search engines for free by right clicking in the submission box and choosing "Paste".  The URL address to your web store should appear in the box.  Enter your email address in the other box and click the "GO" button.

Of course I have not covered everything you can do at CafePress, but you have gotten a jumpstart getting your own web store on the internet for free!  It is a learning process, and I wish you the best of luck.  Please refer this page to your friends!
